Who can get a library card?

Any North Carolina resident over the age of 5 may receive a free library card upon completing an application.

How do I obtain a card?

To obtain a library card, come to the main library or any of the library's branches. Children under the age of 18 must have a parent, legal guardian or grandparent present to co-sign the child's library card application. The parent, legal guardian, or grandparent must have a valid SML card to co-sign the child's library card application. Adults must show a government issued picture ID with a North Carolina address on it in order to fill out a library card application.

How long is my card valid?

Library cards are valid for 20 years for adults and 10 years for children. Replacement cards cost $2.00 and may be obtained at the main library or any of the library's branches. There is no charge to check out without your library card.
